Hi everyone, I’m sharing my year-one results with CooperCoat. This isn’t sponsored, just a quick update on my experience.

I chose CooperCoat for its durability and environmental benefits, despite the higher upfront cost.

You’ll find two main opinions online: those who love it and others who say it doesn’t work. The “doesn’t work” feedback usually comes application by a boatyard with no Coppercoat experience—they’ll likely apply it like normal antifoul and will  mess it up. You are better off doing it yourself

3 Tips:

  1. Watch every video and read the instructions multiple times.
  2. The first layer application is unique—don’t panic, it’s not like epoxy or paint.
  3. Buy extra rollers—they wear out fast.

For my test, I used a new Fender as a control. It went in the water the same day as the boat but wasn’t even submerged all the time due to tides. After 10 months, the boat’s hull showed a slime layer that easily came off with a very cheap electric pressure washer. No barnacles.

Conclusion after Season 1: Works for me : )
